automotive art by dennis

want!!

so today we stopped by a local hobby store that carries autoart and kyosho models – one of the few in the area, just to look around. didnt see anything new, the type of cars that i’m into dont really get much attention, so there’s no reason to re-stock i guess. but i did notice the tamiya 1/12 scale 240zg sitting up high on the shelf.. i’ve given up on building scale models a long time ago, just due to a lack of time. i’ve had a 12th scale fujimi r32 sitting on a shelf for years.. i’ll probably never build it.

so just for the hell of it, i wanted to see what a completed Tamiya Z looked like, so i just googled it..  i stumbled upon this image, that is pretty much guaranteed to make me go back to the hobby shop and pick up the kit.

the pic came from a build thread on Scale Auto Magazine onlne, where Greg is documenting his build/mod process of the kit. I havent gone through the whole thing yet, but it looks like he even made his own wheels for the ZG.. good man.

Thats one of the reasons i’m so hesitant to start that R32 kit, cause i’d want things my way- aftermarket wheels, detailed engine bay, interior – and thats nothing but time!! i mean, i’ll never get to sketch anymore lol… The R32 kit might be for sale soon. But something tells me the 1/12th scale 240zg kit is going to take it’s place.

  1. Those DIY Wats are actually amazing! I want to get back in to Tamiya kits. When I was young a Japanese friend used to get us the Mini 4WD series models.

greg is a modeller from australia, and his detailed build is on http://www.spc.org.uk and automotiveforums.com, where i’m a member on both. his z is just jaw dropping with all the details he’s putting in there, even on the interior panels and recreating brake lines.:D

oh and great site too. just discovered your site this morning
